the oidentd support in bip is way too unstable, when i was using it, i would get the right ident in like only half of the servers that i connect to, simple /bip jump fixed it though...
i think the problem is that bip tries to connect to the servers too soon after it edits the oidentd.conf file (its just a wild guess) and maybe it should connect to one server, wait, connect to next server, wait etc (in a multi-server situation).
anyway, i hope you'll look into it :)
